REO Speedwagon then and now

If you're as old as I am, and remember music in the 1980s, you remember a very popular band named REO Speedwagon. And if you're a classic car enthusiast, you know a car with the same name, but with a slightly different pronunciation.

This ad, which I just found on the Duke University site ROAD (Resource of Outdoor Advertising) is advertising the Reo Coupe. That's pronounced the way it's spelled: Reo. The 1980s band, which took the name (and even the logo) of a car from a defunct company, made a special point of pronouncing it with each letter: R E O. Here's a pic I found of them:

I get a big kick out of how things change over time, and I have to admit that I was surprised when I found out, at a car show, that there actually was a Reo Speed Wagon. I just looked them up and they're still playing. This is what they look like nowadays:

The logo is slightly modified, but it's really the same one, which is nice. And since I'm on the internet I'll go see if I can find a pic of a Reo Speedwagon. Hang on. Here ya go:

I'm gonna keep on lovin' you!
