Back before the new building was built

As a time-traveler, I like to go into the past, and also into the future, and it's really all the same to me. And today I'd like to go to the future, and then look back on today, before the new building was built. Stay with me on this, and I'll try to explain.

I collect old photos, and quite often people ask if I have a photo of, for example, their neighborhood before all of the houses were built. Or it could be a photo of what was there before the building that they work in was built. And sometimes there was something old, but especially in a fairly new place like Phoenix, there was nothing. And who takes a photo of nothing?

Well, I did this morning. I was talking to the pastor of the church on 67th Avenue just south of Cactus in Peoria, and she showed me where they would like to build the new sanctuary. And it's the first time that I had noticed that there's a large open area right next to their parking lot. So I took a picture of it. Of nothing. When the sanctuary is built someday this will be an interesting picture. Right now it really isn't, unless you have a lot of imagination.

By the way, that's my recumbent trike, which I ride every morning. I parked it there to take the photo just because taking a picture of "nothing" is kinda suspicious. People might wonder if I'm taking a photo to turn into the county to show violation of rock placement, or something? Or maybe the gate was painted the wrong color? Most people are practical, and I don't blame them.

But I was taking a photo of nothing this morning. Some day if you ask me what was there before the new building was built, I'll be able to show this to you.

Thank you for the encouragement! If you want to see daily pics of my adventures on my recumbent trike in suburban Phoenix (just for fun, of course!) you can follow me on Buy me a coffee, and you can buy me a coffee if you'd like to:
